I got a creamish colored pearl, which apparently means "success." whoo what a smelly thing. xD
- Pajama set from Brother - the shirt is fuzzy blue and the pants are covered in pastel block and black outline hexagons. :D
- Seven lurvleh little tin "antique" keys from Mum, of course x3
- STAR TREK MOVIES YESSSS It's a box set of The Motion Picture through The Undiscovered Country, plus The Captain's Summit. I know how I'm spending my weekend. :D :D :D

Mum got, among other things, a set of scented oils and some reed diffusers, a crapload of Peewee Herman DVDs (she loves Peewee, haha :D), a pretty coffee mug, some kind of alcohol in a wine-type bottle (she wouldn't open it because she said she'd drink it all), striped pajamas, and a ring with Brother's and my birthstones in it.
Dad received wasabi peas, a sign that says "God Bless Us, Everyone" (it's an inside joke), a big gift card from Brother, and a GPS thinger he's been asking for since Boston.
Brother got a beautiful and well-made pocketwatch to replace the pretty-but-cheapo one I got for him in London - Mum bought this one in an actual store aheh, a funnel cake kit and additional mix, South Park boxers ("You bought him underwear, Mum?" "...YES."), a pair of thick/wintery gloves, and other stuffs.

*happydances* <3

Of Lyd and last-minute shopping.

Waiting for glue to set. Dry faster, darn youuuu.

Anime club sleepover was pretty cool. We went to a buffet restaurant place that charges extra if you leave food on your plate. Then we went back to Daemen. The room we wanted to use was reserved, so we had to use another. It was still okay. :D
NERF WAR YEAHHHH~. I won one game by shooting, like, everyone in the head. During one game, I got hit hard in the nostril by a bullet. It was really funny. xD Steph was on the other team; she snuck over and killed us all. Roshi had a foam sword (and a wrist/arm cast), so uh everyone shot at him for a while. xD;;
Then we watched some anime~. Bit by bit, people left. At the very end, it was only Kevin, Jenni, and me. We left right around 7:00am. Got home and slept until 2pm. Now my sleeping pattern's way off. ahahaha, oops.

Lyd came home from the hospital. They're waiting for results of the biopsy and stuff. :O
Nay asked if I could go over Saturday night to give Lyd some company before they went to a party. When we all had to leave - them to said party, me to home - Lyd refused to let go of me. :3 ;;;;

Went Xmas shopping today. Got stuff for Mum, Brother, and Lyd. And myself. 8D
Shar and Chris came over for a while. We spent time talking about numbers (they just started adding larger numbers together in school), letters, and how Brother and Taylor smoke in Brother's room and make the whole upstairs hallway reek. We three and Mum yelled at the boys. It was rather amusing, actually.

Mkays, back to gluing bits of wire and clay together~.

Of soft dark blues and snow days.

Snow day! A good day to <strike>sleep in</strike> <strike>read fanfic</strike> <strike>stare blankly out the window</strike> do homework, yes. Brother woke me at 6am to say that I didn't need to wake up for school. *facepalm*

Right, so. Past happenings. The last couple of days have kind of blended together for me. D:
I think it was Monday evening that it randomly started snowing during my drive home from school. It was actually rather cozy, in an "everything is a soft dark blue, and the car heater's on high, and the ground's all pale grey in the darkness" sort of way. er, well. It was enjoyable until the car slipped sideways while I was turning a corner. Almost hit the curb. Darn icy patches. That woke me up a bit, haha.

Tuesday night was spent at Gran's. She had a dream that she and some familypeoples were walking by some fields; one had lions in it. One of the lions jumped on her back and scared her so much that she woke up. o_o!!
Oh, she brought all he Xmas stuff down by herself before I'd gone over (quite a feat!) and set her little tree up. :D

Yesterday was bleh. Stayed at Gran's longer than usual, but whatever. We like to hang out together.
I went to anime club, finally. Almost didn't on account of the windy weather, but I decided to be daring. It honestly wasn't bad at all. No icy spots on the roads. It was really windy, but it was also snowing those little pellet-flakes that look like the stuff in snowglobes. The wind blows that stuff around well. You could see if a gust was coming just by watching the pellets swoosh around on the road.
Club was fun. We started watching Spirited Away. <3 James is having trouble with a guitar he's building; he gave it to me to give to Brother to see if he could fix it. Bro said he'll take a look at it. Yay. :D

And yeah, snow day today. I usually wake up at 8:30am for class today, by the way. The kid woke me up way early for nothing. ;;
Uh... hi. Been a while.

My right eye's twitching again. WHY. *rubs temple* Dx

School's lame. Finals are coming up. Dunno what the crap I'm doing in any of my classes at all aaaa
Breast and testicular exams are all~ kinds of awkward. We're using models, of course, but still. ._.
Heard a heart murmur during clinical; they're awesome-sounding. hurr.
Finished Lyd's Xmas gifts, have yet to start on Nay's. TIME CONSTRAINTS RAUWGH

We really only just started the whole OB thing with the little babies and pregnant ladies and recently pregnant ladies and all that crap, and already I dislike it greatly. Old people are cooler than annoying little babies. Anything is. ugh.

Teaching myself Dutch HOYEAH. Paul is doing the same.
Thanksgiving!

Yay for Boston. :3

Tuesday night, my cousin Wendy kidnapped me. xD I stayed the night at her house so we could leave in the morning for Boston. Her parents, brother Andy, her, Gran, and me were in their van. Dad took my car all by his stupid lonesome, at least for part of the trip.
Car rides, wheeee. ;; Wen and I listened to our mp3 players and read or played games on our laptops or dozed, Gran stared out the window and dozed, and Andy talked to himself and played with his toy computer...thing. zzz.

Wen's family stayed in a hotel. The rest of us stayed in Aunt Pat and Uncle Ken's house. I shared the office with Gran - she on a cot, me on the floor. Uncle John and cousin Chris shared the guest room. Wen and I mock fight with Chris a lot. We do it out of love. :D He works in a restaurant. He doesn't cook so much anymore; works in management.

Pat. Yeah. She's crazy. Makes huge meals for all of us. Fresh fruit at every meal. Tastylicious baked things. :D
The last day, she woke me up early and said to get ready - we were going to get bagels. I was thinking, "Oh, a supermarket." No. A bagel shop. Mmm.

RIGHT SO maybe I should try to stay in order. If I can. uh.

First day, Thursday, weeee went out. OH. The water treatment plant. There was a path leading up the hill near the plant, so we followed it. Kinda. Wendy, her mum Mary Ann, and I split off from the guys. Wen found a wooly bear caterpillar on the path and saved it. :D She also found a super-long slug. I poked it with a twig and it fell over all, "...oh. hrnnnn *pulls self upright*" Then I found a wooly bear and saved it as well. Wen also saved a worm. We're so cool. 8D
I think we also went to some beaches on that day. Chris found a rib and gave it to me, thinking I might like it. :D Then John found a vertebra, so I kept that as well. Mary Ann found some sponges, shells, and spiffy rocks. I think John kept some rocks. At the beach where the rib and vertebra were found, Dad spotted a crab and picked up a few smallish rocks to look for it. I pulled a larger rock up and HOCRAP there were, like, a dozen of the little dudes under there. Some of us grabbed 'em. They were so cute! Little crabbies. x3
Pat made tons of delish foodses~. The turkey was awesome, the stuffing was awesome, the cheese and broccoli stuff was awesome... yeah. :9

Second day was Aquarium Day. Heck yes. The New England Aquarium is just... fantastic. I love it. The penguins, the jellyfish, the sharks, the sea dragons, the ratfish/chimaera/whathaveyou, augh. Everything! <3 And they're all about preserving the oceans.
Also, the new Star Trek movie was showing in their IMAX. This close to going, man. This. Close. But I love the feeshes more. eheh.
OH. We ladies went to a craft show before that, I think? Got some incense for Mum and myself. La.
um. John and Chris had to head back home to PA. We all went to a spice shop that smelled wonderfully, and split ways upon exiting the store. :')

Third day, Ken took Wendy, Mary Ann, and I to ~Harvard~. It's a lovely area. :3 Anyway, we went to the Museum of Natural History. There's a collection of glass flowers on display now, and holy crap. They do not look like glass. A few do look artificial in a silk-leaves-and-petals sort of way, but not like glass. I mean, some of the plants have roots. Roots! With little root hairs and everything! Ken said that the plants looked like someone had just gone outside, pulled up and cut a ton of things, and tossed them inside display cases. Pretty accurate description.
We also saw <strike>stuffed animals</strike> models and, uh, taxidermy-afied animals. Hummingbirds and mice to an elephant and rhino. One room had whale skeletons hanging from the ceiling. It was pretty darn cool. There were also lots of things in jars. :D :D
Alsoalso! Gems and such. :D :D :D So many pretty things! Quartz forms some awesome looking shinies. There was some byssolite that looked like a pile of splinters. Desert roses are pretty. <3
That night, everyone but Andy (he was watched by a neighbor at the house) went to this comedy singing show thing. The Capitol Steps. Wen and I sat next to each other. We're not huge on politics, so there was a bunch of stuff we didn't get. ;; And some of their jokes were really mean. D: This one song, though, about medications and, like, taking one pill to fix what this other pill does, and her kid takes this and her husband takes that and... yeah. It was funny.

Fourth and last day, Pat made everyone who wanted one a sandwich from Thanksgiving leftovers. Then breakfast om nom nom. Some more photos on the front steps (this is a yearly thing) and hugs goodbye, and we were on our ways back home~! Dad stopped at a casino on the way 'cause he's a loser like that. Wen dropped Gran and me off at our respective living places and returned home herself.

Surprised Mum in the kitchen. xD I explained where Dad was, and we talked about stuffs that happened over the weekend. She and Brother went to the flea market~. It hailed on... Friday, I think? She put decorations up on the porch with help from a neighbor. La la la~.

~~~
Registered for next semester's classes today. hrm. Developmental Psych and a comp course, along with the actual clinical-y thing.
Psych is kinda cool. I took Intro at Daemen, and... yeah. Figuring out why people behave the way they do, how different things affect the brain, etc. Interesting.
Of Astro Boy and anime club.
GO AWAY YELLOW MR. CREEPY SMILE GUY AD. SHOOOO. STOP STARING AND JUST GO AWAY.
Monday!
Math was as boring as a dead rock, as usual. I aced the test, as usual. blehhh.
Tuesday!
Mum kept going out at night to try and see meteors, but... nothing. >:
Nay sent me a link to the Doom comic, which we all poked fun at.
Wednesday!
Culture presentations! Every group did wonderfully, and brought food related to their culture. Mmm. :9
... Loser that I am, I got stage fright in front of 20 people. The heck, self? :|
ThenTHEN Nay, Lyd, and I went to go see Astro Boy. :D :D :D
I've not really read or watched the originals, but Nay knows, like, everything about the series. She's <strike>nerdy</strike> awesome like that~. :3
The movie, in my opinion, was fantastic. The dialogue's a little weird here and there, Toby/Astro's clothes are made of TUFF, and (as Nay said) it's a little tough to see Dr. Tenma and not Nicolas Cage, but other than that? <3 The plot's cool. The animation is so... so pretty! And, like, soft. I dunno. xD
At anime club, I beat the stuffing out of peoples on a video game I'd never even heard of before: Melty Blood. Button mashing is fun. :D
Roshi was at club! And Thomas! :D :D And James, but he's always there so yeah.
Today!
Got my scedule for next semester kinda figured out. Registration starts the Monday after Thanksgiving~.
Mum and I FINALLY went foodshopping. The last time we went was before Halloween, and then it was just for party crap. Our pantry was nearly empty, woah. o_o
I have this big packet to finish before clinical on Saturday, but the textbook on which the questions are based probably won't arrive until next week aaaa<endljcut></endljcut>
Writer's Block: Book review
What (if any) books would you ban from a high school library? Are there certain subjects that you feel are inappropriate for teenagers regardless of literary merit?
View 1455 Answers
Ohohoho, I am reminded of that whole Looking for Alaska mess. Some people in the town called it "pornography" and tried to get it banned from our school, but we argued that it was a fine book for a high school library. In my opinion, most kids in middle school now would have no problem with it.
Anyway, back to the main topic! Um. Nothing, really. By the time students get to high school, the stuff they watch on TV or see on the internet or hear in the halls is probably worse than anything in a novel collecting dust ( >: ) on a shelf. And even if a book is in a library, it doesn't mean that all students must read it.
Besides. From what I've observed, students only go to the school library to play games on the computers or look up something in the reference section. Students who read novels seem to be few and far between nowadays. D:
(also: lolwut? Since when do I reply to Writer's Blocks?)
Of silly videos and Spider-Man.
La la la~.
Tuesday was bleh, as usual.
No class Wednesday because of Veteran's Day, so that was nice. Spent the day doing that culture assignment thing and getting silly videos sent to me by Nick. xD
Thursday. uh. It was Thursdayish.
Friday was kinda fun. We were doing chem-related stuff in A&P. Changes in limewater when you breathe into it (add CO2), that sort of thing. There were cross-section slides of lung bits, too. Alveoliiii.
Saturday... eh. Got an e-mail saying to meet up at Daemen at 4:15 to go see Astro Boy. Nay came with me. There was no one around, so I called Kevin. They were at the theater already. Dx By the time Nay and I got there, it was too late to bother. We went to another theater to see if Astro Boy was showing there. It wasn't. Nothing good was. D:
So we just went home.
I owe Nay one movie. We're planning on going this Wednesday.
Movie night~!
Lyd was being more of a spaz than usual, and kept sitting on my feet and stuff. augh.
First movie was League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Yay. <3
Second movie wassss Spider-Man 3. Homan. Dancey Parker was very amusing. xD Also Venom is scary aaaaa
OH AND the novel I got online (the library never has it!), Good Omens, arrived during the week. I have something else to read first, but YAY! :D
ALSO I have to drop off two movies at Blockbuster. One is the documentary thinger called Home which is awesome. I highly recommend it~.<endljcut></endljcut>
Of math and memes.
Dad and Brother put a new EGR valve in the car. It actually runs now, woah. Kinda scared me this morning when I pressed the gas pedal down and the vehicle actually accelerated. xD;;
Also new icon wheeee.
Today I was thinking (a rare occasion, I know!) and discovered that I've been wearing slash goggles since, like, early middle school. :D
Also, Gran's awesome. Besides being super crafty, she apparently likes Star Trek and Nine Inch Nails. No, I am not kidding. Her spiffiness must have jumped over Dad and landed on Brother and me. hee.
Todayness!
Woke up feeling nauseous and about 2 hours before my alarm was set to go off. Thus, unhappiness. Seems I ate something weird yesterday?
A&P was... A&Pish. I think I got a 78% on the last test, ouch, but judging by everyone else's reactions, it might not actually be that bad. ._.;;
Today's topic was respiration, oooh. Alveoli is a fun word. I have loved it since I first heard it. haha.
Home la la la.
Helped Mum in the backyard a bit, digging up the two failtastic peanut plants (one had two tiny peanuts, the other had nothing) and cleaning some leaves out of the pond.
Math class, oh my godddd. If the teacherdude didn't grade attendance, I'd do what I did with Chem last year: show up only for tests, then scram. As it is, I'm stuck staring out the window at a nearly leafless tree against a blank, grey sky. Which is nice, sure, but boring after 45 minutes. And we're still doing ratios. About liquid meds now, but still RATIOS. *flail*
And now... Mum's making porkchops. Yay food. HoHos and some licorice do not good eats make. Well. I suppose they could, somehow, but I need to eat something other than sugar today. urgh.
Doyle, don't sleep on my arm whaaaaa
MEME TIME while food's cooking~.
1.
Okay, so the title rhymes better than it alliterates, but whatever.
Happenings!
Brother got his driver's license on Wednesday; dunno if I mentioned that or not. Perfect score, too, the little... good... driver. AUGH.
I stayed at Gran's last night. She had one big nightmare. Kept yelling out - not words, just yelling - so I went to wake her up so she wouldn't continue to freak out. She almost punched me. xD;;;
In the morning we went to Blockbuster and Dollar Tree. Blockbuster because I wanted a movie (which they didn't have, so I got something else) and Family Dollar because Gran needed fabric softener sheets. She also paid for a pair of gloves and a wordsearch book for me. Grannn. <3
Then I wasted away the rest of the day reading fanfiction (I know, I know, shut up) and wandering the intertubes.
Of skills tests and strange days.
Wanna sewwww. My hands are itching, man. D:
Monday!
Classblah, homeblah, more classblah. At least I get to sleep in on Mondays.
Tuesday!
Skills test aaaa
I had to rush home to get my stuff because I am so forgetful. ._.
Shelly and I are partners; we each had to pick a card to see which system we had to do a check-up on. Respiratory/thoracic, cardiovascular, and GI/abdominal. Shell got respiratory, I got abdominal. According to her exam, my lungs are okay. :D Then I gave her an abdominal exam. Auscultating while scratching the person's side to find the liver border is super fun. 8D
Anyway, the teacher said we both did very well. Made a few little mistakes, but hey. We students had to do a write-up of the procedure and our findings, and then we were allowed to leave. YAY.
Wednesday!
Last day at the old folks' home, and let me tell you, it was bizarre in a good sort of way. xD
The lady Casey and I had as a patient the first few weeks, who called for people to come over then shooed them away, who never ate more than a bite at any meal, who had not said a coherent sentence to any of us? She and I had a bit of a conversation over breakfast OH MY GOD. I gave her a piece of bacon which she chewed, then spit the fat back into her hand. I told her to put it on the plate instead of the table (like she usually does) and she DID. I offered her a piece of pancake; she took it, then complained about the taste. Eggs? No, no, definitely no. xD;; Then I asked if she wanted any oatmeal. She looked at me, then the bowl, then tried to tilt the bowl to see the contents. I helped her, and she didn't look too enthusiastic about the stuff. I said, "You won't know if you like it or not unless you try." She gave a bit of a shrug and opened her mouth. She ate, like, three spoonfuls of the stuff before declaring it bland and making a face. xD I mixed some leftover syrup from the pancakes into it to give it some flavor. After one spoonful of that, she said it tasted "like that junk" and waved at the pancakes. She did finish her orange juice, though. Said her milkshake was... nasty or something, I didn't catch it. She and I talked a bit more. Not much, BUT STILL WOAH SENTENCES. I'm so proud of her.
ANDAND later, she said that she remembered that Casey and I had taken care of her before. :D :D :D
Our patient for the day... He tends to swear. A lot. A heck of a lot. He calls people such colorful names. ._.;;
But! After Priscilla (partner) and I got him showered and dressed and breakfasted, he was all polite and stuff. o_o Asked us nicely to empty his catheter bag, asked Priscilla about her name, wanted someone to call his daughter because he wanted to chat with her, and then thanked us for helping him and everything. Aww! x3
And when we told the other students about this, they were like, "No. o_O" and we were like, "Yeah! :D" and it was great, haha.
OH. There was some pizza delivered to the place, and the way the teachers had been all try-but-fail to be secret about it, we all assumed it was for us. Last day and all. WRONG. It was for the staff, patients, and teachers "for putting up with us." What.
What.
:|
And it was right before lunch, too, so we had to wait (and watch) while everyone finished their pizza and Pepsi before we could move them to the dining room.
Pshhh.
That was a dick move, teacherladies. >:
Today!
Class was dull, as usual. Me an' mah friendpeeps drew for most of the class. Yay us?
I can't draw. Bah.
Mum and I took down and packed up most of the Halloween decorations. Well. Mum packed stuff up. She's organizing it, I think?
I banged my already busted left knee on the attic ladder owwww.
THIS SONG IS ADDICTIVE AUGH
And the video on YouTube with the birdguy and the followers and the darkness and the moonthing and-- Anyway, it's fantastic.
Of sponges and squicky dreams.
Hocrap, It's already November. o_O
Meh, yesterday. Homework, homework.
For movie night, I was going to drive until Lyd and her friend Delan came trick-or-treating to my house. I threw on black pants and a longsleeve thermal top with a blue t-shirt over it. Add black boots and BOOM instant failtacular science uniform. Lyd was dressed like Minnie Mouse - with ears this time - and Delan was a devil ladypersonthing. We made a weird group. :D
We went trick-or-treating back towards Nay's house; when we were across the street, we parted ways. The girls continued up the street while I crossed to go bother Nay and her mum.
This one guy, about my age, griped at Lyd for being young and me for being too old. Then he cooed at the 3-year-old Spiderman behind us. Excuse me, what? :|
ANYWAYMOVIESYES
First movie was Corpse Bride omgyay~.
Second thing was Goosebumps. It Came From Under the Sink, which was about a big sponge with eyes and a mouf rawr that caused bad luck AND uh one about a demonic baby that was accidentally switched at the hospital, oops.
lol sponges
THEN 'cause it was only 10pm or so, Lyd, Delan, and I watched random crap online. I can sing "Fireflies" by Owl City better than I'd thought. o_o
Nay drove me home. <3
Last night, I had a freaky dream about little worms. Like. Parasitic ones, thin as a thread, short, dark-colored but almost transparent, and leech/oval-shaped. They tunneled under the skin - you could see them while they sped along - but left no tracks.
AND I WAS INFESTED. aughhhwpiefhweijheiuwhf I watched them cross the backs of my hands and my arms, and I was pacing around and freaking out and crying, and Mum was like, "No, we'll take you to a doctor, we'll get them away" or something and I just kept freaking out aaaa
And it was a bad idea to try and pull one out because they broke rather easily and their innards were... not really poisonous, but they made everything all gross.
I woke up rubbing my arms. ._.
I also woke up at sunrise, which freaked me out until I remembered the time change. eheh.
Okay, not really. I read Scientific American instead.
Friday!
Moar cat dissections. One lady in our group dropped out of the class, and the other chick wandered off. :| Rachel and I ended up spending a great deal of time picking out the fat that was crammed behind our kitty's innards and around her kidneys. That cat, man. Skinny as a matchstick, but packed full of fat. Grossss. We finally cleaned up around the renal arteries and veins, though, and dug out the femoral and brachial vessels. Those things were giving us so much trouble. @.@ like. The brachial? Rach had to chop up the clavicle and a couple ribs to be able to follow the thing from the aorta to the arm. And the femoral was like, "ohay, I'm gonna go THIS way now! :D" and thus it was hard to follow. Rach commented that digging though the leg was making her dislike chicken. I said it made me hungry. ahaha. 8D;;
I think every group's cat but one is going to be used on the practical. The group behind us had really good mesenteric arteries; ours has good renal vessels and a clean heart area. And so on. The one group's cat apparently had terrible vessels. The teacher made them put it away. ._.
PARRRTTTAAAYYYYY~~~!
People who came:
- Ashely (as an 80s raver thing IDUNNOGLITTERANDPINKANDBLACK)
- Dan (as SuperDan - he donned a black cape)
- Corey (as Dan2, or SuperDan2, or... whatever. Dan-like wig, painted his nails black, cape, etc.)
- Kevin (as... an emo kid or something? Kevin, you lazyface~)
- Heather (as Kevin - wore his clothes)
- Kayla (as Haruko Hahuhara, sans pink hair)
- Nay (in her leafy cape and stuffs~)
- Lyd (in a polkadot dress; she'd mentioned something about Minnie Mouse earlier?)
Mum dressed like an old lady in a bloodstained dress, I wore my steampunkish crap, Dad wore a stupid mask for all of five minutes, Brother and his friends smoked in the basement and made us all complain about the smell, annnnnd OH. Nancy and her daughter Jenny came, as well~. They live sort of nearby, and Nancy walks their dog down our street. They're nice. :3 Ash's parents were over for a while, her mom in a shirt with a Jack o' lantern face on it and her dad in a shirt with pi on it. Pumpkin pie, yes? okay.
The party wound down around 11:30pmish, and everyone was gone by midnight. Whoo!
Today!
Woke up hungry. oh. I didn't eat yesterday. Well. Cookies and chocolate-covered strawberries do not a meal make. xD;;
Mmmm, bread dip.
I have tons of homework to do. I should probably get working. ;;;
Before that, I shall mention that it's a god thing the party was last night and not... uh, now. It's windy and rainy and all-over miserable outside. Hope the weather improves, or trick-or-treating will stink for the little kids. D:
Of failed tests and funky movies.
La.
Thursday!
We were handed back a test. Around 70% of the people failed, myself included. 38 was passing, I got a 36.5. weoiugfuiyewgr
THING IS! There were, like, three questions that almost everyone in the class of 50 or so people missed. Like. One or two got them correct according to the teacher. but. BUT. One of the questions, we all got it wrong because we put down what the teacher had told us in class, and what we all kind of thought was common sense. But no! According to the answer sheet, wrong~. And the teacher was like, "No, I told it was -that-." and we were like, "Um, no. You said it was -this-."
Fail, teacherlady. Fail.
Friday!
Cat dissections~. Each team kind of did their own thing, but we all at least opened the pericardium and followed the jugulars and carotids up the neck.
Our team, though. Oh. Rachel and I picked at that heart until it was clean and spiffy. We removed fat and lymph nodes like there was no tomorrow~. Lots of classpeoples came over to look, since we had the heart and some main vessels all neatly laid out and followable and pretty.
You could even see the thyroid gland. Not that we needed to find it or anything, but it's kind of like finding an amethyst in a pile of glass crystal or... something. More squishy.
Saturday!
Homeworkhomework-ohayontd_startrek-homeworkhomework.
Movie night~.
First movie was Coraline. It was supposed to be in 3D, but the DVD player was acting up. The disc was in 2D-side-down, so we just left it since it was actually working oh my god. It was good the first time, but awesome the second time even if it wasn't in 3D. The old ladies' performance aaaa
Second movie was watched online. Raggety Ann and Andy: A Musical Adventure. uhhh. Gods. It can't be explained. It must be SEEN. And I must mention that the animation is gorgeous. Weird, but wonderful. Also, Andy's song/dance "No Girl's Toy" is darn catchy.
Today!
MOAR HOMEWORK. Finally got the care plan for this week finished. Did the math homework, which is like stuff I did back in 2nd grade. Did some A&P stuff online.
Wandered teh intarwebz.
Ate.
Wanderwander.
SUDDENLY, NICK! A buddy from high school whom I haven't talked to in forever messaged me on Gaia. Now we're chatting on AIM again. ha. <3
Of fires and feeling sleepy.
Killing time between clinical and anime club. I may take a nap. So tired. So little sleep lately. D:
Sunday!
It is common for me to waste away Sundays. This was no different. Did some more work on the hexagon quilt, though. Oh, and homework.
Monday!
uh. Driving. Everywhere. Self to school and home, Brother to work, self to school and home, Brother home.
Math class drags on and on. augh. Most of the class finishes the example questions in the first five minutes or so, then zones out for the rest of the hour. Yay us?
Tuesday!
Finally got our care plans back. Got an S on the one, S- on the newest. I worry. Especially 'cause the teachers fail at teaching us how to do these accursed things. Dx
Today!
Woke up at... well, the alarm was set for 4:50am, but I ended up waking around 4 and staying in bed until about quarter to, when I decided, "Ah, screw it, I'm awake." ahurr. :B
Clinical was... really not that bad, I suppose. New patients, new partners. Tim is my partner now. He knows what to do. It's great. :D Our patient doesn't like males working on her, however, so I ended up spending lots of time with Priscilla who... either didn't have a partner, or her partner knew what to do... I forget. Anyway, the three of us are pretty much ~awesome~ and we got stuffs done pretty darn well.
The lady who was Casey's and my patient the past few weeks is combative, but she usually behaves okay at mealtimes. Today, though, she shoved her plate off the table. It made a heck of a mess on the floor. D:
Tim's and my patient this week is pretty cool. She told Priscilla and me how to do stuff, gave us tips, that sort of thing. :3
Traffic on the way home, blarggg.
And yeah. I may take that nap now. *yawn~* -.-
Of clinical and cats.
Right! So. This song brings back memories, oh man.
Tuesday!
Classes blah.
Wednesday!
Clinical blah. We gave flu shots. All the people I gave shots to were great, but the last lady Laura had to vaccinate freaked and pulled at Laura's arm, then the teacher's arm when she tried to vaccinate her. Took two people to get everything done. @.@
THEN just after 1:00pm, after we students were supposed to be gone, a patientlady fell. A handful of people, myself included, ran over to help. I couldn't do much besides support her head and hold her hand. The actual staff peoples checked to make sure her hip was okay, that she could moves her legs, etc. Laura and I were told to take vitals after the woman'd been placed back in a chair. Poor dear was stressed, of course. D:
Then we got politely kicked out of the way, and yeah.
Anime club~. We painted and decorated pumpkins to be sold next Thursday at the bake sale. There were some, uh, interesting ones.
Thursday!
Class blah.
Friday!
Started the cat dissections, wheeee. Our cat is female and kinda looks like a skinnier version of Semour. ;;
Today!
Sewed a few rows of my hexagon quilt together. It's coming along pretty well.
Aunt Sue called and asked us to come to the land to be loud. She's trying to sell the land to the people making houses there; many of the buildings have inhabitants already. Anyway, this is kind of... the last try sort of thing...? She's tried being nice, so now LOUDNESS~. yeah.
Dad took his truck, Mum and I went in the car. Uncle Alvin is perpetually drunk, Mum brought strong liquor, and together they are stinky and loud. Yay them.
We started a fire, Dad and I, before Sue and her boifran and Al showed up. It was okay, but not the cranking bonfire of epic proportions we were aiming for. I stopped caring after Al started singing, which was pretty early on.
Drove myself home a little after 9pm. psh.
Shoulda just gone to Nay's. D:
ALSO I have another care plan to write up, but the teachers never handed my previous one back, and the office with our student mailboxes in it was closed today ifhqewrghbfrle. I dunno if I got anything wrong, and if so what and how to fix it, and the next one's due Monday and *dies*
Of fabric and a form.
Go listen to this song and cry. Just do it.
Stayed at Gran's Friday night. Saturday morning, we went to Hobby Lobby. She's never been there before, so we wandered through most of the place. She bought a book of crochet patterns, I finally found some fabric for... something I'm working on. la la la~
Movie night!
We wanted to watch Changeling, but the DVD hated us and refused to play, even after we all tried to magic it into working. D:
Sooo we watched The Dark Crystal (mine <3) instead. Bought it recently and AH LURVES ET. :3
Then we watched Camelot, the musical that lasts <strike>foreverrr</strike> 3 hours woah~.
Sunday was... uh, kinda wasted time? haha, I dunno. Kept thinking it was Saturday.
Today!
Woke up, washed up, searched and searched for a few papers - a form - to be filled out on a child under the age of 5. Ashley's mother, Lynn, babysits a little dude named Miles and his older brother. Miles is 4, almost 5. Lynn said she'd come pick me up so I could do the report, whoo~. So I basically spent an hour at their house getting bragged at. They have so many toy cars. @.@
Came home, made some spicy rice stuff, finished filling out the form, and yeah. phew.
This songgggg.
Of clinical and craft stores.
Title = lame. Soz.
So sleepy, and it's not even 10:30pm. *yawnstretch~*
Tuesday!
eh. No one cares about boring Tuesdays.
Wednesday!
Woke up at 4:15am and rushed to get ready because it was dark and cold and rainy and windy outside aaaa
Got to the place early, though, and almost fell asleep in my car. Awesome. Then I forgot my folder, so I ran back across the street to get it. Then I forgot my stethoscope and bp cuff, so hey more running. Then clinical actually began.
Casey and I had a new patient who totally didn't like us. We had to get help with cleaning her and stuff. D:
Breakfast time! Feeding people is something I'm totally cool with. I can't dress a person for crap, but oh man, give me a spoon and some oatmeal and we are good to go~.
Then... we helped other people with stuff, went through the charts for information for our care plans, and... yeah.
Noon = lunchtime! More feeding. I tried to get our patientlady to eat, but the only thing she'd take was some milk and a tiny scoop of delish looking mashed potatoes. Then I got kind of booted over to a lady who spoke with a southern accent. 8D <3 She ate well, which was apparently kind of add, according to a guy who worked there. He said he usually had to convince her it was candy. Am I that good? Ohoho. or maybe she was just hungry, whatever. The food did smell amazing. I'm pretty sure I fed off the fumes, since we didn't get a lunch ourselves. :| but anyway, then I went over to feed a dude who kept almost falling asleep until you said something food related. He was sitting with a guy who - when he was in a good mood, anyway - flirted with every girl he saw. He kept calling one of our student peoples over because she'd told him her name. xD;;
THEN it was a sort of finish-up-and-get-lost meeting thing. Fwoosh.
Went over to Daemen, changed into some COLOR and chilled in the lounge. Kayla saw me and invited me into the GD lab, where we and some other peoples hung out for a while. Kevin, Kayla, Tim, and I went shopping~~. Michael's, Party City, uhhh a gas station, and Wegman's for food. Kayla is awesometacular; she leant me $3 so I could get sushi. Yay. <3
La la la club time~. Someone had Pokemon Monopoly. I was banker. I'm a crappy banker. xD Some peoples were doing origami. Wolf's Rain followed by Cowboy Bebop was played on the screen with SUPARLOUD VOLUME. I gave up being banker about an hour in; Kevin gave me the canvas banner that everyone had scribbled on last week. I have to sew up the fraying edges. la la la.
After quitting as banker, I watched the screen while making random origami craps. Shrimp and standing stars~.
Drove home, fell asleep. x.x
Audrey woke me up by walking on me. Thanks, doll.
Today!
One class, and it was a TEST which I thought was supposed to be during Tuesday's class - I wasn't the only one confused. Anyway, yeah. There were totally, like, 3 trick questions and a couple on stuff we've never even mentioned in class.
ECC is great, man. Send your kids here. :|
Then we had actual class after the test. There were 30 minutes left. uh. Teacher handed out packets and spent 20 minutes explaining something to a few confused students. well. It started with one confused student, which led to two confused students and a confused teacher, to half a dozen bewildered people total and the rest of the class slightly entertained, to understanding students and a confused teacher. wheeee.
Came home, ate, went to the doctor's for a flu shot. I think it amused the nurse that I'm going to school for nursing but dislike needles. ._.;;
La la la, picked up Brother from work. He had to stay a little later than usual because some lady and her daughter came to pick up their lawnmower.
With a small car.
They had to cram the machine in the trunk with the handle sticking up and outwards, and bungiecord the hood down. It looked quite silly. andAND the daughter kept looking at me weird. I'm sitting in my car, chicka, look elsewhere~.
Still gotta do that child assessment for class aaaaaa
And the care plans aaaaaa
It's all dure Tuesday wkdjfchbrkehr
At least we have Monday off. That's cool. My weekend has, like... things to do in it. Lame.
Of Doubt and driving.
le sigh.
Friday night was spent at Gran's house. We watched the new Trek movie on my laptop; Gran had been rewinding skeins of yarn, but by the end of the movie, we were both kinda glued to the screen. xD
She saw all the old movies when they first came out, and she admitted to liking them. Teehee, Gran. <3
Movie Night!
Goosebumps, Shocker on Shock Street. ahurrhurr.
A movie I can't remember because I am stupid.
And then Doubt. Gooood movie.
Onion and garlic flavored potato chips are made of yum. 8D
Sunday, uhhh OH. Right. Woke up thinking it was Monday and that I had ten minutes to get ready for class oh my god aaaa and then Brother was like, "Dude, it's Sunday. :|"
So yeah. Sewed a few more rows of that hexagon quilt, then traced and cut out some more pieces. I think I lost two rows somewhere. D:
Today!
Woke up early. *facepalm*
A&P II was bleh. We learned about the heart, oooh. Hearts look funky from behind. Scratch that, they look funky from any angle. haha.
Drove home to do dishes and laundry and to sing with the radio because the house was emptyyyy and then Brother came home from school. bawww.
I drove him to the bank, then went to the gas station next to his workplace. He walked to work, I got $10 of gas. Which, uh, is only about 4 gallons. Lame.
Drove home, ate, mucked about, left for math class.
Quiz in math class. Then we started on conversions between... like, apothocary measurements and metric, and also between Fahrenheit and Celsius temperatures. At one point in class, I forget when, the teacher dude wanted something rounded to the tenths place. The answer came out to be 3.98888... yeah. So he rounded it to 3.9. waitwhat. I kind of stated in a slightly questioning tone that it should be 4.0. He was like, "No, 3.9 because we want it to the tenths place."
uhhh. This is Math of Dosage, where screwing up a measurement could have dire consequences. I'm a little worried. ._.
Drove home, mucked about some more, picked Brother up, and killed more time. hurr.
Doyle keeps flopping all over me when I'm trying to sleep. Last night, for instance. He tried to sleep on my neck, then the back/top of my head, then my FACE, then my side, then... ugh. That cat. Finally, he just curled up near my arms/face and fell asleep. Okay. @.@
The parents were at camp for the weekend. Dad came home either late last night or early this morning, and Mum's staying overnight again. She complained to me over the phone today that Dad's snoring woke her up every hour. D:
Oop, food time. *noms chicken fingers*
Of sleep, stitches, and cells.
mehhhh.
Clinical on Wednesday was pretty lame. The guy who was to be our patient had had some complications (the teachers didn't know), so he was on end-of-life care. ._.
We got out early, so Casey and I went back to ECC to practice in the lab.
Then I went home and bummed around for a while before falling asleep at 6pm. I swear I'd set my alarm clock for 7:00pm so I could wake up for anime club.
Mum woke me up by saying that it was 9:30. I was like, "...am?" She said that no, it was still nighttime. I freaked out because club was pretty much over, and I had some stuff to drop off and pick up. I sent Kevin a text, asking what to do. He said it was okay, I could pick up the stuff next week. I felt so bad aaaaa
Thursday, I have one class. It's supposed to be about an hour and a half long. Teacher handed out a 3-page packet of powerpoint slides and proceeded to just kind of read off the slides. Class lasted, like, 40 minutes. :|
Mum and I tossed some orange lights on the outside of the porch burlap, so it looks more decorative and less failtastic. I had to resew some of the burlap, as well; the wind tore the ties out. It happens. Anyway, now there are lines of stitches here and there. It's a frankenporch! xD
Today's class = A&P II. We did, among other things, blood typing~. It was artificial blood, though. bummer. Other class activities included a hematocrit of a sample of sheep's blood, and drawing leukocytes. Yay.
I wanna know my blood type. My parents don't even really know theirs. D:
Going to Gran's later~.
Of driving in rain and dead dream people.
*yawn*
Movie night!
We watched Goosebumps, Goosebumps, and also Goosebumps. Then we watched something terribly sad, but my mushy brain won't let me remember what. We were all nearly crying, though. waugh. T_T
Flash flooding yesterday. That was fun. Going to pick Brother up from work, I had to scoot around a mondo puddle that made half of the road kind of impossible to drive on. Going home, we had to take a different route because the default road had turned into a lake. :|
I honestly don't mind rain too much. It's high winds and roads-turned-seas that scare me. meh.
uhhh I had a weird dream last night. First remembered one in a long while. It was weird in the sense that I was violent in it. I'm rarely violent in dreams; in fact, I'm usually quite wimpy and useless. hurr. 8D
Anyway, some guy around my age and I were in a pet store. He worked there, or owned the place, or something. Anyway, it was a small room with cages on all the walls, floor to ceiling, and a center island-thing of more cages. Lots of cages, lots of furballs mucking around in them.
For some reason, I had a plastic fork. I dove at the guy and stabbed him multiple times. It was a really sharp plastic fork or something, Iunno. haha. Also, while he was writhing on the floor, I opened a few cages so the animals could get out. There was a reason behind this - it made perfect sense in the dream. There was a large hamster and two or three other critters. Anyway, once the guy actually died, I put the animals back in their cages and realized that oh crap dead body. I wrapped his head and upper body in the longish black leather coat he had - but hadn't been wearing previously - and picked him up as one would a child. like. one arm around his legs, the other around his upper back, and his head on my shoulder.Rather awkward, but he was light.
Then oh crap, Dad's home. His truck pulled up outside, and I walked out the pet store door. It was where our kitchen/back door is, which opens onto the driveway. I walked around to the driver's door, looking at the latch and window thing and not at Dad's face. I said, "Dad? D-Dead body!" voice squeaking on the last two words. I started bawling. (this is more normal of dream!Elle, hahaha)
He was like, "ohhh, well..." and asked what happened. I said that he had tried to, uh, do something nasty to me in the shop, so I found a fork under the cages - nonsense, the cages rested on the floor - and fought back.
Flashfoward to some kind of courtroom, where the murder was justified and I was free to go. There was no evidence except the dude's body and the fork. like. No one checked out my story or anything.
and... then I woke up. o_o
Freaked me out for a good part of the day, man. D:
An~y~way~
School. Killin' me. I can't find the textbook that randomly walked away, so I guess I have to get another. skjhperhgieruh D: D: D:
Gotta wake up at 4am tomorrow. Clinical is at a sort-of nearby old folks' home, and starts superearly. Mum offered to drive me. bleh.
Iiii need to figure out how to make pen nibs from something cheap. Plastic, probably, unless Brother has 8 identical old nibs he doesn't need. hm...
Also need blue and white striped fabric. One of the fabric books had the perfect stuff, but it was a tiny panel. UNACCEPTABLE. Nay and I will probably go craftycrap shopping soon.
... X-mas plotting, ohoho.
This Friday, I might sneak over to the high school to bother <strike>teachers</strike> Lyd and Brother. moar ohoho~.
There are a few movies I want to rewatch. New movies. *spazflail*
ONE MORE THING. Gabe Askew's video for this song is seven kinds of amazing. It's so creative and pretty and kind of silly and meshes with the song so wellllll okay, shutting up now. :3
Of cities, school, splodey cars, and singing.
aaaaokay. Right. So. Been busy, soz.
Chronological order is for squares.
We went to NYC over the weekend. Left Thursday afternoon, got home early Sunday morning. Nay, my parents, and me. We went to the base-thing of the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Conservatory Garden, Chinatown, Little Italy, on a ferry, on a water taxi, in regular taxis and subway trains and buses, and we also did tons of walking. My feet were ready to fall off, and Mum's back was hating her. ._.;;;
It was pretty cool, though. Lots of stuff going on ALL THE TIME. :O
Nay and I drew on a step-thing in the Garden with a bit of the step-thing (cement, whee), and bought tasty juices in Chinatown, and we were all kind of hassled by limo drivers who wanted us to pay for rides in their shiny cars. We were like, "No really, we're waiting for a bus to go to Walgreens. Shoo." ;;
I have photos, but I've yet to really go through them. Later. ;;
School's killing me, but that's no surprise. OH. So. Friday. I got sick, right? Sore throat, etc. That turned into a stuffy head/headache and general feeling miserable-ness. Almost everyone at school got sick over the weekend, too. Not even kidding. We were fine last week, then we come back on Monday each feeling low and ohay so is everyone else! Even one of the teachers has a bad cough. Fun times.
Yesterday, my car exploded. Well. Part of it did. Here's what went on: Driving north up Youngs, close to school but still quite a ways away, right? Went over the little bridge and ohay the car's kinda smoking. Did I drive through something? no. The brakes okay? They still wor-- the ENGINE is smoking, ohhh, that's not good, maybe it's the radiator, where can I stop this road has no shoulder, office park up ahead and they have parking lots okay okay okay. SO~ I pulled into an almost empty lot, smoke just POURING from under the hood. It reeked and probably made any people in that office building kind of annoyed. ;;
It was 7:40am then, and class starts at 8:00. I called Mum and told her what happened, obviously stressed that the car's gone kablooey and class starts in 20 minutes and it's a 15 minute ride here if you speed a bit aaaa. Mum said she'd be right there! and hung up. I flailed at the car for a minute and noticed that it was puking up fluids all over the ground and it's front. Green. Antifreeze. At least it wasn't oil or something. I'm car-stupid, and I thought loosing oil is worse than whatever the crap antifreeze does. meh.
Quickly called home again and told Mum about the leakiness, and she said okay, she'll try to get Dad to come. I waited a while longer before walking the short distance to the entrance to the office area to direct Mum in. 8:00 rolled around and I nearly slammed my head on the nearest tree. Late = bad. Anyway, Mum finally drove up around 8:15. I showed her where the car was, she asked me what happened, I explained, and she sped me over to school. After convincing the teachers that my car really did die and I didn't sleep in or whatever, I got marked late instead of absent, yay~. 20-some minutes out of a 7 hour class isn't bad, really. jeez. We got out early, anyway. xP
And what happened? Brother and Dad looked at the car, and apparently the coolant hose blew open? They replaced it and brought the car home, but it's still unsafe to drive more than, like, 2 minutes at a time. The coolant fan won't go, so the coolant won't cool, so it just gets hotter and hotter and hotter an--BOOM! yay okay so why won't the fan turn? The guys are gonna work on it later and figure that out. ._.
According to Brother, the sensor that triggers the fan died when we got said vehicle, and he wouldn't be surprised if that's what happened again. Hooray for lame electronic sensors?
uhhh Anime club yesterday was kinda fun. The anime was a Vampire Hunter D movie, the same played during that sleepover for~ev~er~ ago. So... I watched some of it before scooting over to where some peoples were playing the new Beatles Rockband thing. Sang a couple songs, most of which I was completely unfamiliar with. /lame
Also, I got compliments on my lavender muffins (yay) and singing voice (not so yay).
And. Why do people flirt with me? Do not want. ._.
um um um. MOVIES TOMORROW WITH NAY AND LYD~. We want to see 9. Yessss. Nay keeps sending me clips and info on the story, and I hate her for it. xD It's like feeding a fire, augh! It looks so awesomeeee.
The sunlight disappears so early. Winter, go 'way. ._.
Of a trek and Trek.
ooooohoho, awesometastic. I had a whole thing typed up, and Firefox crashed. Cool. Great. Fantastic.
WELL.
- I walked more than half the way between ECC N and Daemen; where the crap the Metro buses were, I have no idea. Did eventually catch a bus, packed way over capacity. That was a fun 5 minutes.
Hung out with peoples, had a sort of pre-anime club club meeting thing. yes.
There was no bus at night, either. Cool. Mum had to come pick me up. ;;
- Nay and them invited me to the drive-in. We saw Shorts and G-Force. lol @ telephonisis.
- Brother will not grow pot outside. Ain't retyping that whole tale.
- I drove to school and home alone today, woah~. Mum followed in the van in the morning, but I had to know the way myself hurr.
- New York next week aaaa
- Instead of selling those superold Star Trek curtains, Mum kind of gave them to me. <3
- Eyes, particularly deformities of them, still fascinate me. Dunno why.
- Gotta drive Bro to work tomorrow; should get to bed. meh.
Of revised schedules and rotty wounds.
SCHOOL AAAAA
Wednesday was the first day. Due to a scheduling mishap, I went to Anatomy & Physiology II lab instead of clinical. so. I went to Mrs. Bellari's office ( she put my schedule together ) to get it all sorted out.
SO NOW my schedule is as follows:
Monday
~ 11:00am - 1:30pm ~ A&P II
~ 4:00pm - 4:50pm ~ Math of Dosage
Tuesday
~ 10:00am - 11:40am ~ Health Promotion
~ 11:50am - 12:40pm ~ Health Promotion lab ( a little thing before clinical the following day )
~ 1:00pm - 4:20pm ~ Physical Assessment
Wednesday
~ 8am - 3pm ~ Health Promotion lab ( clinical )
Thursday
~ 10:00am - 11:40am ~ Health Promotion
Friday
~ 9:00am - 11:30am ~ A&P II lab
And on Wednesdays after clinical, I plan on scooting over to Daemen to nap in the DS lounge until it's time for anime club. :D
Thursday: Mum drove me to class, and then we went labcoat shopping. yaaaay.
Friday: Went to the morning clinical because I missed Wednesday's. Bellari said to do it~. Missing a clinical = very bad. The A&P II lab teacher said it was okay, since I'd gone to another A&P II lab on Wednesday. I'm gonna stop by his office on Tuesday to pick up some papers, but whatever~.
Saturday:
BEACH PARTY~. Kevin picked me up ~10am, and we went back to his house to pick up some stuff and wait for his friend from work. When she pulled up, we drove to Beaver Island. Never been there before, at least not that I know of. :O
The three of us dragged our stuffs down to a spot where two grills were kind of close together. Then we found out that it was not the predetermined spot, and had to drag everything over to another, rather close, space. @.@
BUT WHATEVERS. There were hotdogs and soda ( Kevin bought 17 2-liter bottles, hahaha ) and chips and beer for those who wanted it and YEAH.
Then some of us went swimming. There are areas of clay under the water; Kevin kept slipping like one would on an oiled linoleum floor.Very funny. 8D There was a clay war ( we smeared clay on each other, and threw seaweed, and splashed each other ) and we got yelled at by the lifeguards for going too far out. bawwww.
Finally got home around 8:30pm, and called Nay's house to apologized again for not going to movie night. Party lasted longer than I'd thought. x.x
Today!
... not much. The last kitten, the dark female, is all hyper and irritating. Dx
Taylor came over. His mom called and griped that he hadn't taken his medicine.
OH RIGHT. so. Taylor had what he thought was a bug bite on his leg. It was all pus-y and gross. Mum and I instructed him on how to care for it. He went home and... to the doctor's or something, and ended up in the hospital. Turns out he's got MRSA and if he doesn't take the meds, his leg will get all rotty. :O!
Anyway, Taylor said that he DID take his meds and went on a rant about how his mom's an idiot and he hates her and I just left and came back up here. |:
I should be doing homework. mrrrrrr.
